Ikebana

In dialogue with the performance Le chant du sabre, Ikebana International, Geneva chapter, presents arrangements of ikebana, the Japanese art of floral composition. Through a subtle balance of flowers, branches, lines and empty space, each work seeks harmony and a living equilibrium. The Fondation Baur also contributes photographs of works from its collections, including elements of Japanese swords, creating a refined conversation between floral gesture, image and material heritage within the framework of the Autumn of Japanese Culture.

Pablo Benzo presents his first solo exhibition at the gallery, bringing together paintings that probe the fluid boundaries between interior and exterior, figure and landscape, memory and perception. Shifting perspectives and familiar subjects unfold across different scales of time. For Benzo, painting becomes a temporal and perceptual investigation, attentive to how images are experienced and remembered. In this work, stillness is not the absence of change, but movement apprehended according to another measure of time.

Humanitarian, by Design? explores the often-overlooked role of design in humanitarian action, from objects and emergency shelters to maps, images and digital technologies. Bringing together nearly 200 objects—most presented to the public for the first time—the exhibition examines how design shapes the way crises are experienced, managed and represented. Across three perspectives—objects, spaces and imaginaries—it reveals both the creative potential and the tensions embedded in humanitarian design. A multidisciplinary exhibition that questions how design can support care, dignity and resilience in times of crisis.

Thomas Fougeirol’s first solo exhibition investigates painting as an uncertain field between surface and relief, image and matter. Through a sequence of repaints layered over earlier Dust Paintings, Fougeirol activates texture, pigment and gesture to blur pictorial depth and sculptural presence. The show foregrounds material encounter and process-led decisions, emphasising modulation of light, density and sedimented histories within oil-and-pigment canvases that oscillate between representation and objecthood.

6 November – 18 December

Bre Andy presents a new series of paintings in her first solo exhibition at the gallery. Drawing on photographs of her surroundings and her journal, she depicts intimate scenes of women and friends in domestic interiors and natural settings. The works consider inner and outer presence, the body, memory, and the ways space shapes visibility and expression. Through these personal images, Andy explores how lived environments inform relationships and self-presentation.
