La Bâtie Festival celebrates its 50th edition from 25 August to 13 September 2026! Over three weeks, theatre, dance, concerts, performances, circus and parties will take over venues across Geneva and the region. This anniversary edition also introduces Le Béaba, a new open-air hub at the Musée Ariana, bringing together free events, performances and concerts in a lively, convivial setting.
Samar Haddad King’s Shabaab blends dance, theatre and puppetry to trace the intimate bond between two Palestinian friends, Mohamed and Mahmoud. Through movement, dialogue and a haunting puppet by Sipho Ngxola, the piece reconstructs memories, imagined futures and the silences carved by colonial violence. The choreography explores youth, tenderness and forms of resistance, creating a fragile space where friendship becomes a means of survival and poetic witness.

Anitya — L’Impermanence is a participatory solo circus performance by acrobat Inbal Ben Haim. Set among a web of taut, intertwined ropes, the piece explores impermanence, letting go and collective reconstruction. Ben Haim’s mastery of the corde lisse produces striking visual tableaux, blending physical virtuosity with intimate audience interaction as spectators are invited to untangle and lift the performer. The work is atmospheric and sculptural, balancing tension, release and quiet resilience.
Choreographed by Léo Lérus, Gounouj in situ is an intimate, physical dance for four performers that evokes fragile, living landscapes. Rooted in gwoka rhythms and inspired by the creole concept of bousyè, the work blends traditional and contemporary vocabularies to explore vulnerability, transformation and resistance. Bodies shift between human and amphibious states across a sensory soundscape of bird song and marine breath, transforming the stage into a moving ecosystem and proposing a fragile possibility of new balance.
Singer-songwriter Zora offers an intimate acoustic set that unfolds like a suspended reverie. Her warm voice and pared-down guitar trace delicate melodies, exploring longing and quiet joy through spare, lyrical songs. The performance favors close listening, with subtle dynamics and moments of hush that invite reflection. Sparse arrangements and natural resonance create a fragile, luminous atmosphere, transporting listeners into a contemplative evening of honest storytelling and soft, emotive soundscapes.
