La Bâtie Festival — 50th Edition

La Bâtie celebrates its 50th edition with three weeks of dance, music, circus and theatre that bring our diverse community together. Open to everyone, the festival invites neighbours, artists and newcomers to share performances, conversations and communal experiences that strengthen local ties. This edition is shaped by new artistic director Stéphane Malfettes, with graphic collaboration from studio Pique-nique. Activities invite hands-on discovery, shared learning and creative exchange — welcoming everyone to spend time together, explore nature and connect with neighbours.

Tuesday 21 July, 20:00

Led by four young players, the Hermione Quartet presents a programme juxtaposing Haydn’s Op.20 No.4 and Mendelssohn’s Op.44 No.3, exploring classical clarity and romantic lyricism. The performers favour sparkling ensemble, precise articulation and buoyant energy, delivering music with youthful vivacity and refined interplay. Subtle shaping and dynamic contrasts reveal emotional depth beneath virtuosic textures. The musicians also offer listening supplements to guide newcomers, creating an intimate and engaging sonic experience.

13 July – 16 August

Returning for its twentieth edition, Les Aubes brings softness and poetry to Geneva mornings. At dawn, intimate musical encounters offer delicate soundscapes that stir the senses, favouring close listening and subtle atmospheres. The programme highlights a variety of acoustic and experimental projects, from solo performances to chamber ensembles, each designed to awaken the city with refined timbres and attentive pacing. A gentle celebration of morning listening and communal presence.

15 – 26 July

Directed by Valeria Bertolotto, Faire Hamlet! stages a company wrestling with performance and truth as rehearsals of Shakespeare’s prince unravel private tensions. Pierre Banderet, Dylan Poletti and an intergenerational ensemble confront doubt, jealousy and shifting identities while Angèle Colas provides artistic collaboration. Sound by Fred Jarabo, scenography by Fanny Courvoisier, lights by Alessandra Domingues and costumes by Eléonore Cassaigneau shape an intimate, unstable world where fiction bleeds into life.
