Concert du duo Vocal Cheese

On Tuesday, November 10, the duo Vocal Cheese will be delighted to share their traditional annual reunion concert. For 15 years, Vicky and Meret have been singing songs from the Alps and the shores of Greece, Italy, Occitania and Bulgaria, occasionally venturing into Latin America or adding an original composition of their own.

The joy of savouring these songs, gathered along the way through encounters and shared experiences, shines through in arrangements that pay tribute to these traditions while reflecting the performers’ own hybrid, itinerant lives. Expect rooted folk music with a subversive edge when needed — and it is needed — delivered with humour and tenderness.

Conceived as a dialogue between historical research and live performance, this second edition of Les Encyclopédiennes explores bel canto and the first currents of Italian Romanticism. Musicians from L’Encyclopédie shape a refined programme that moves from lecture and vocal reflection to concert performance, with Bénédicte Tauran in the workshop and young talents from the HEM in the Ex-Libris concert. The atmosphere is intimate, lyrical, and intellectually charged.

Created and performed by Sandra Widmer Joly, this theatrical piece confronts finitude with a blend of poetry, tenderness and dark humour. Drawing on the author’s fifteen years as a funeral celebrant, the work weaves personal testimony, quiet rituals and moments of levity. Dramaturg Antoine Jaccoud provided textual guidance following a writing workshop, and members of the Célébrys network bring lived professional experience to the stage. The overall tone is intimate, reflective and surprisingly warm.

Directed by Eléonore Bonah and staged by scenographer Maria Clara Castioni, CHRÜSIMÜSI transforms Adelheid Duvanel’s terse, poetic fragments into a multilingual theatrical tapestry. Performers Eléonore Bonah and Maria Clara Castioni inhabit hypersensitive, marginal characters whose everyday gestures oscillate between absurdity and tenderness. Sparse staging and a careful interplay of voice and silence highlight Duvanel’s Kafkaesque intimacy, while language shifts (French, German, Italian) create a fragile, dreamlike atmosphere that balances humour and quiet despair, celebrating stubborn acts of resistance.
