Alternatiba Léman Festival

The Alternatiba Festival invites you to explore potential futures through five themed evenings at Uni Mail and MACO, followed by the Village of Alternatives at Parc des Bastions. Over 110 organizations will offer conferences, roundtable discussions, workshops, and activities covering diverse topics such as the future CERN collider, the evolution of labor, global health, degrowth, and critical thinking. Saturday features a lively village atmosphere with stands, hands-on workshops, and concerts, alongside organic and local food options. This free event is open to everyone, aiming to strengthen social connections and promote ecological and social transition.

Immerse yourself in a bat-themed evening at Parc des Evaux, featuring scientific booths, talks, acoustic walks, and children’s workshops. Experts will share their passion and insights into these fascinating flying mammals through a variety of activities, including a lecture on their lifestyle, echolocation, diet, protection, and taxidermy. Kids can enjoy a bingo game and a mask-making workshop. Acoustic walks will be offered every 30 minutes. Food and beverages are available on-site. This event is organized by CCO-Genève in collaboration with the Museum of Natural History.

29 – 31 August

La Vogue de Carouge promises a weekend full of festivities, rides, treats, music, and joy for all ages. Expect a lively atmosphere with funfair attractions, sweet treats like cotton candy and candied apples, live music and performances on the main stage, artisan and food stalls, family zones like the “Espace P’tits Loups,” plus vibrant concerts, fanfares, and DJ sets under the big top. The weekend is rounded out with easy access via public transport and parking options, making it a smooth and inclusive experience for everyone.

Friday 29 August

Place des Grottes comes alive for a grottesque evening celebrating Animatou’s 20th anniversary with Pré en bulle: expect games and snacks on the boat, grilled sardines, a costumed ocean parade, live performances, a fun blind test, and a DJ set at 10Bis. A free-spirited, joyful, and slightly quirky celebration true to the neighborhood’s vibe.

  • 16:30 – En bateau!: games and snack, photobooth & grilled sardines

  • 20:00 – Costumed ocean parade & performance by Vladimir Spoutnik

  • 21:00 – Blind test hosted by Al Go-Rhythm (Antoine Milesi)

  • 23:30 – DJ set at 10Bis by “Herr Liebe” (Urgence Disk Records)

“La ville est à vous” is a well-loved event in Geneva, where from May to October, each weekend a different neighborhood is transformed into a car-free space featuring a street market and various festivities. Residents can organize and propose a range of fun, festive, and cultural activities, bringing life to the streets. This event, organized by the community and supported by the city, encourages connection and creative expression.
