Johann Rosenmüller — Germany in the Light of Venice — Ensemble Temenos

Ensemble Temenos presents music by Johann Rosenmüller that fuses German gravitas and Venetian light. The program unfolds sonatas and sinfonias whose contrapuntal textures and virtuosic violin lines alternate with dance-like rhythms. Soloists Alice Julien-Laferrière and Minori Deguchi (violins), Bettina Ruchti and Mathurin Bouny (violas), Carles Dorador (theorbo), Cecilia Knudtsen (viola da gamba) and Hadrien Jourdan (organ and harpsichord) shape luminous timbres and rich continuo, revealing a music of contrast, colour and movement.

Directed by Françoise Courvoisier, this production of Anton Chekhov’s Oncle Vania — translated by Arthur Adamov — assembles a committed ensemble (Vincent Bonillo, Pierre Dubey, Bérangère Mastrangelo, Patricia Mollet-Mercier, Clarisse Morizot, Pierre Omer, Juliana Samarine, Edmond Vuilloud) to explore love, the passage of time and illusions lost. The staging, created with scenographer Gilbert Maire and painter André Kasper, uses Rinaldo Del Boca’s lighting, Pierre Omer’s music and Nicolas Le Roy’s sound to evoke both the comedy and the terrifying humanity of Chekhov.

Tess Giordano is a singer-songwriter who accompanies herself on guitar and piano. At 17 she brings a clear, intimate vocal presence to songs that blend pop sensibility with contemplative textures. Her single “Promises” has been played on Couleur 3, and she has performed at festivals including Montreux Jazz Off, La Folle Semaine and Gena Festival. As a composer she has contributed to Compagnie Confiture’s musical and the play Quand viendra la vague, and co-wrote a song for the TV series L’Appel de la forêt. Her live set favors close, acoustic moments and warm, lyrical storytelling.

With cellist Lisa Cailleton and Jérôme Gruffel (viola), Jean‑Baptiste Navarro (violin) and Nathalie Saudan (violin), the Contrepoint Quartet traces a repertoire from Purcell to Philip Glass and interweaves Scandinavian folk motifs. The programme examines the persistent force of repeating musical cells, contrasting baroque clarity with minimalist pulse and folk lyricism. Subtle dynamics and crystalline ensemble tuning reveal textures that shift from introspective to propulsive, inviting close listening and emotional clarity. It is presented within the Les Quatre Saisons de La Musicale season.

Two bands take the stage: The Band, channeling raw 1960s–70s rock, and Latin Lovers, offering swing and Latin-infused repertoire. The programme alternates driving electric grooves and warm, danceable rhythms, with musicians trading solos and close harmonies. The sound design favors immediacy and intimacy, letting textures and dynamics shape the evening. It creates a convivial, nocturnal atmosphere where nostalgia meets rhythmic exuberance and live interplay becomes the event’s emotional core.
