The program centers on Franz Schubert’s String Quartet No. 14 in D minor, ‘Death and the Maiden’, its dramatic motifs and lyrical slow movements unfolding in close-up, chamber textures. Expect concentrated interplay, quiet tension and moments of stark intimacy that invite sustained listening.

Come celebrate with music, performances and a festive atmosphere — because on this day, every Genevan gets to share La Bâtie’s birthday!
Carried by five performers, this circus piece transforms an ordinary waiting area into a cinematic stage where time subtly shifts. Acrobatics, juggling, tightwire and aerial apparatus interweave as bodies lift, fall and catch one another. With a blend of poetry, humour and tenderness, the company explores chance encounters and the small moments that reshape relationships. Variations Musicales de Tannay presents a ten-day classical music festival offering a series of tented concerts featuring invited soloists, chamber ensembles, orchestral projects and family-friendly performances. Programmes range from intimate recitals and chamber music to larger ensemble and orchestral works, with one free family concert aimed at young audiences. Concerts are staged regardless of weather, and the festival emphasizes artistic variety, lyrical expression and accessible programming that invites listeners of all ages into the world of classical music.
La Bâtie Festival celebrates its 50th edition from 25 August to 13 September 2026! Over three weeks, theatre, dance, concerts, performances, circus and parties will take over venues across Geneva and the region. This anniversary edition also introduces Le Béaba, a new open-air hub at the Musée Ariana, bringing together free events, performances and concerts in a lively, convivial setting.
Directed by Janaina Leite, this daring staging draws loosely on Georges Bataille’s L’Histoire de l’œil to examine the porous border between theatre and pornography. Fifteen performers, professional and amateur — including sex workers — enact a dark fable where live music, theatrical storytelling and explicit scenes interweave to probe shame, desire, taboo and compulsion. The production treats transgression with care, prioritizing consent and reflection while balancing the vulgar and the sublime.

Directed and choreographed by Nicolas Barry, La Demande d’asile stages the brutality of the asylum procedure through the bodies and voices of two performers, Sophie Billon and Nangaline Gomis. Blending dance and theatre, the piece makes administrative violence tangible and centres the specific difficulties faced by LGBTQIA+ people when forced to narrate their histories and identities under interrogation. Sparse scenography and intense physicality probe memory, vulnerability and survival.
