Yom x Ceccaldi: The Rhythm of Silence

FURTHER AFIELD

Three musicians in complete sympathy, their playing a single breath and vibration. Clarinetist Yom, known for reworking Jewish traditional music, explores paths from rock and electro to classical and contemporary. Joined by brothers Théo (violin) and Valentin Ceccaldi (cello), the trio dissolves boundaries between genres. Their music traces an inner quest where jazz meets Middle Eastern inflections, unfolding a dreamlike repertoire that hovers between meditation, imagination and reality.

A darkly comic solo play about obsession and domestic chaos. When Michel finds a rare record he has long sought, he prepares a perfect hour to listen — but family, neighbours and a drip that will wreck the disc steadily intrude. Zamakan is a trio led by Egyptian saz master Abdallah Abozekry, guitarist Baptiste Ferrandis and Indo‑Helvetic violinist Baiju Bhatt. Their oriental jazz blends original compositions with improvisation, weaving vigorous rhythms and drifting poetic reveries. The music foregrounds multicultural identities and adventurous interplay: Abozekry’s hypnotic saz, Ferrandis’s inventive guitar and Bhatt’s virtuosic violin create layered textures that move from intimate stillness to incandescent intensity. Their new album Dans le ventre de la nuit frames the project as an assertion of bold, global creativity.
