Short Life Attention Span #3

Pauline Coquart presents Short Life Attention Span #3, an editorial-and-performative project that gathers short texts and collaborative interventions. The edition assembles autofictions, political essays, poems and hopeful reflections conceived as concise experiments. Each contribution benefits from attentive editorial support and bespoke layout; Ethan Assouline and Gaia Vincensini contribute to the book design and poster work. The project investigates the plurality of contemporary voices, treating writing as a field for poetic, political and formal experimentation.

The Miraculous Geneva is a group exhibition that brings together contemporary Geneva-based artists in tribute to the late artist Daniel Orson Ybarra. Featuring works by Stéphane Ducret and other renowned local artists, the exhibition celebrates the diversity and vitality of Geneva’s contemporary art scene through painting, sculpture, and multidisciplinary practices.

28 May – 11 July

Song Ruijin presents her first institutional solo exhibition, assembling a new series of paintings and ceramic sculptures within a site-specific installation. She constructs an unstable universe where the sky becomes ground and interior merges with exterior, populated by emoji-like figures that reflect individual alienation and the absurdities of digital capitalism. Through a syncretic visual language of accumulating imagery—sometimes comforting, sometimes unsettling—her sensory installations reveal logics of exploitation and control affecting human and non-human actors.

Opening: Thursday 28 May, 18:00

28 May – 31 July

Painter Elise van den Brand examines figurative painting and the dynamics of the gaze in a new body of work. Through cropped portraits and fragmentary compositions she interrogates the tension between how subjects intend to be seen and how viewers project narratives onto images. The exhibition draws on Sartre’s notion of le regard, explores social armour as protective presentation, and probes the instability that emerges when contextual markers are removed, exposing ambiguous subjectivities.

21 May – 20 June

Surfaces brings together eight contemporary artists—Jörg Brockmann, Nicolas Delaroche, Teodelina Detry, Nacoca Ko, Mila Mayer, Maya Rochat, Julien Spiewak and Gabriel Wickbold—to examine the material and perceptual qualities of photographic surfaces. Works range from scratched negatives and sculpted prints to ceramic transfers and screen-based pieces. The exhibition foregrounds texture, tactility and the interplay of light and matter, considering how photographic supports shape memory, embodiment and the boundaries between analogue and digital practices.

Opening: Thursday 21 May, 18:00

16 October 2025 – 30 August 2026

The MAH showcases Tonutopie, an innovative installation by German artist Hans-Walter Müller, a trailblazer in inflatable structures. This large, transparent, and habitable sphere, nestled within Vincent Lamouroux’s La Passerelle, offers a unique sensory experience. It delves into the contrasts between the fluidity of inflatable structures and the rigidity of traditional architecture, providing visitors with a fresh perspective on space.

7 May – 1 August

Etienne Francey and Onoko present a collaborative exhibition exploring the mirage as visual and psychological phenomenon. Francey’s photographic practice treats landscapes as memory, rendering familiar scenes with a soft, recollected quality. Onoko contributes more abstract works that distill atmosphere and luminous degradation into colour fields and ephemeral surfaces. Together their pieces interrogate perception, illusion, and the shifting boundary between apparition and documentation, using photography, colour studies and light to destabilize what the eye assumes to know.
