Leonor Cuahonte, PhD in Art History, leads a five-lecture series on modern and contemporary art, with research focusing on twentieth‑century movements and gender in art.

Across five sessions she examines the movements that birthed modernity, profiles pivotal artists from Matisse to Warhol, and investigates the rising recognition of women artists from Frida Kahlo onward, revealing thematic continuities and shifts in style and cultural significance.

Leonor Cuahonte holds a doctorate in art history from the Sorbonne and is a specialist in modern and contemporary Mexican architecture. She is a curator and independent researcher with international teaching experience.

This lecture examines the pioneering work of Matisse, Mondrian and Magritte, exploring how their experiments with form, color and abstraction reshaped modern art. Cuahonte investigates key artworks and themes, discusses cross-currents between European movements, and reveals why these innovations continue to influence artistic practice and visual perception.
