My Love of Books – The Julienne Book Club

This informal readers’ club brings together two friends and fellow readers for convivial conversations about books, favourites and discoveries. Participants exchange short recommendations, discuss themes, narrative techniques and emotional resonance, and reflect on why certain works endure. The session encourages close listening, comparative reading and shared insights that broaden literary horizons and suggest new directions for personal reading lists and inspire discovery. Lara Ternovsky, project manager for anti-discrimination at Dialogai, and Fabrice Brandli, lecturer in general history at the University of Geneva and specialist of the Enlightenment, bring experience in LGBTIQ+ advocacy and historical scholarship.

They discuss how Rousseau’s writings, notably Book V of Émile, continue to shape heteronormative discourses and the contested interpretations within feminist and queer studies. The dialogue examines processes of (de)naturalization of gender identities, conditions for social inclusion, public esteem, equality and freedom, and their relevance for democratic justice.

Designed for emerging professionals and recent graduates, this workshop explores puppetry through the creation of a short performance. Four to five young artists are supported through a guided process from idea to stage, with mentorship in direction, dramaturgy and construction. Participants develop a compact work presented at a public work-in-progress showcase. The programme also offers the chance to win a fully funded four-week training placement in 2027 at Odradek, near Toulouse.
