Lara Ternovsky, project manager for anti-discrimination at Dialogai, and Fabrice Brandli, lecturer in general history at the University of Geneva and specialist of the Enlightenment, bring experience in LGBTIQ+ advocacy and historical scholarship.
They discuss how Rousseau’s writings, notably Book V of Émile, continue to shape heteronormative discourses and the contested interpretations within feminist and queer studies. The dialogue examines processes of (de)naturalization of gender identities, conditions for social inclusion, public esteem, equality and freedom, and their relevance for democratic justice.
