Cellist Fanny Balestro and pianist-composer Julien Boss form The Boss Ensemble, a Lausanne duo exploring the borderlands between jazz, contemporary and classical music. Their work balances written structure and spontaneous improvisation, weaving chamber-like precision with jazz freedom. The recent album, recorded at Bauer Studios in Germany in March 2025, reveals a more personal, expressive voice. Intimate dialogues between cello and piano create shifting textures and contrasts, often tender, sometimes luminous.
In early January 2022, two construction vehicles belonging to a Swiss multinational were set on fire at a gravel pit in the Geneva countryside. Over a year later, a young man — referred to as Jérémy — was arrested and suspected of involvement in the arson. Held in pre-trial detention, he was released after more than three months, following strong public support and mobilization.
