Niels Hung, a graduate of HEAD–Genève, investigates his multicultural identity through painting shaped by American and Asian visual cultures. His works—repainted canvases and mixed-format paintings—often reappropriate images found online and in the street, interrogating contemporary image production and its slipperiness. Employing layered pictorial strategies and referential iconography, Hung stages a critical dialogue that oscillates between fascination and critique. He also joined the Work.Master teaching team in 2024 and engages with questions of artistic production and the artist’s condition.

For the final days of the exhibition Encore(s), discover exclusive objects designed by John Armleder at special prices — a perfect opportunity to treat yourself or find a gift.

Swiss artist John Armleder presents a selection of designed objects and small sculptural works that probe the boundary between art and design.
Through a restrained visual language and an emphasis on material and form, the pieces question objecthood, functionality and the value assigned to everyday artifacts. The presentation highlights the artist’s attention to composition, scale and surface, inviting reflection on how design gestures can operate as conceptual statements.

This exhibition pays tribute to Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri, a seminal figure of Australian Aboriginal art and a pioneer of the Western Desert painting movement. Drawing on Dreaming stories and the ancestral landscapes of his Anmatyerre heritage, Possum translated traditional sand and body painting motifs into monumental canvases that intertwine myth, geography and memory. His richly patterned, large-scale works balance Indigenous cosmology with a striking sense of modern abstraction, affirming his lasting influence on global contemporary art.

Opening during the Nuit des Bains, Thursday 22 January, from 18:00.

For his first solo exhibition in Geneva, Gregor Hildebrandt transforms Galerie Mezzanin into a poetic space of memory and transformation. Using materials such as magnetic tape, vinyl records, and audio cassettes, he reinterprets the physical traces of the analog world, turning familiar forms into sculptural and pictorial works. His installations evoke themes of transfer, nostalgia, and the fragility of memory, reminding us that remembrance once had a tangible medium. Balancing irony and reverence, Hildebrandt questions the role of the artist in an age dominated by digital reproduction, suggesting that art now resides not in direct representation of reality, but in the layered density of collective memory and desire.
