Zina Daoudia brings a contagiously festive energy, transforming traditional chaâbi rhythms and Raï melodies into an exuberant live experience. Her charismatic presence and powerful voice lead listeners through fast-moving dance grooves and intimate vocal moments, while call-and-response exchanges with the crowd heighten the shared intensity. The performance balances raw vocal power with textured instrumental colours, creating a warm, communal atmosphere that invites movement and celebration.
Performed by Françoise Courvoisier (voice), pianist and composer Moncef Genoud, and saxophonist Valentin Conus, this project sets Henri Michaux’s poems against a sensual jazz soundscape. Genoud’s original compositions and borrowed motifs intertwine with Courvoisier’s vocal phrasing and Conus’s supple saxophone, leaving space for improvisation. The piece explores memory, fragility and shifting ground through fragmented text and elastic musical lines, creating an intimate, dreamlike atmosphere where language and music open doors to the imagination.

Created by Collectif Humagine, La baleine 52 hertz examines autism and neurodivergent thought through intimate theatrical language. Written and performed by Valentina Luporini and Cédric Schaerer, the piece pairs Luporini’s dramaturgical voice with Schaerer’s multi-instrumental practice to shape its soundscape. The company, founded in 2023, draws artists from theatre, circus and music to explore compensation mechanisms, learning processes, emotional load and the distinct languages of autism, with a focused attention on feminine expressions often underdiagnosed.

Molière’s Tartuffe tells the story of a slick con-man who hides behind ostentatious piety to worm his way into the wealthy Orgon household. Orgon, dazzled by Tartuffe’s sanctimonious rhetoric, defends him even as the impostor’s hypocrisy poisons family bonds and pushes the household toward ruin.
Director Jean Liermier underscores how, in Molière’s work, the female characters serve as the moral compass and spark of resistance, a beacon of hope against oppression. Staged on a stark, minimalist set that exposes the family’s rigid tensions—and featuring Gilles Privat as an unbending Orgon—this production highlights the play’s continuing resonance in a world beset by egotism, fanaticism, and conspiracy thinking. The central question remains timeless: will society keep falling for Tartuffe’s brand of seductive deceit?

Directed by Marie Wyler and adapted from Violaine Bérot’s novel, Comme des bêtes follows a man nicknamed “the Bear” whose difference unsettles a mountain village after a child is sighted near his cave. Performed by Marie Probst, Marie Ruchat, Alexandra Tiedemann and David Casada, the piece mixes elements of folk tale and detective narrative to probe mutual taming between humans and other forms of life. Giulia Muniz’s costumes, David Kretonic’s lighting and Rudy Deceliere’s sound design build a tense, mysterious atmosphere that questions the limits of rationality.

Led by maître à danser Alain Christen, this spring ball revives Playford-era country dances through shared movement and live music. Ensemble Le banquet d’Apollon accompanies the participants: François Mützenberg on recorders, chalumeau and galoubet; Marie-Claire Bettens on recorders and viol; Lisette Aubert on viol. The programme draws from John Playford’s 1651 English Dancing Master, offering a varied, spirited repertoire where popular tunes meet learned composition, inviting dancers of all levels into lively, convivial patterns.
Choreographed by Belgian Piet Van Dycke, Beyond gathers six performers from dance, acrobatics and pole dance in a striking physical theatre exploring balance, risk and collective support. With unstable ladders and shifting footholds, the company sculpts moments of tension, lift and lyrical force, turning acrobatic feats into a poetic meditation on cooperation and human connection. The piece blends athleticism and tenderness, offering a visually bold yet intimate investigation of how bodies meet and build bridges above the void. Produced within Steps festival.
