Visions: Screening & Guided Visit

To celebrate Nuit des Bains, the FMAC is hosting a special evening in partnership with Bubblegum Club, a cultural platform located in Johannesburg and Geneva. Jamal Nxedlana and Camille Kaiser will screen a 12-minute documentary that follows curators Danniel Tostes and Lari Medawar and their journey within FMAC. Additionally, there will be guided tours of the VISIONS exhibition, led by art mediators and historians.

The Tender Buttons exhibition offers a multidisciplinary exploration centered on buttons, delving into their identity and historical significance. Featuring over three hundred ceramic and glass buttons, the exhibition interacts with the museum’s works to highlight their role in both formal experimentation and socio-cultural narratives. The exhibition delves into the delicate and harmonious grace in 16th and 17th-century Flemish painting, examining how the masters of this period used color and intricate details to achieve this elusive quality. Grace, seen as a feminine attribute that favors delight over strength, suggests a balance between the soul and nature.

Opening during the Art en Vieille-Ville collective vernissage on Thursday, November 6, from 16:00 to 21:00.

HiFlow presents the immersive installation “Dream Machine Collective” by Barbara Carlotti, part of the DREAM UP exhibition featuring 23 artists and over 50 works. At the intersection of contemporary art, performance, and sensory exploration, this experience invites visitors on a journey into the heart of dream and creation.

In “Yuku & Sakura,” Ladina Gaudenz celebrates nature and renewal with delicate, luminous cherry blossoms. Her pieces blend the ephemeral beauty with a sense of contemplation, revealing enchanting cherry trees on raw linen canvas.

Opening during the Art en Vieille-Ville collective vernissage on Thursday, November 6, from 16:00 to 21:00.

31 October – 31 January

The exhibition presents three recent photographic projects inspired by Geneva’s artistic and historical heritage, preserved by the Centre d’iconographie de la Bibliothèque de Genève. In partnership with the Centre de la photographie Genève, it features works by Zoé Aubry, Gabriela Löffel, and Laurence Rasti. The artists explore themes of mobility, migratory flows, and bodily transformation, offering a critical perspective on migration policies and social norms related to appearance.

 

 

23 October – 16 November

James Webb introduces a captivating sound installation on the shores of Lake Geneva. Through his project “A series of personal questions addressed to Lac Léman”, the artist engages the lake in a dialogue that invites the audience to project their own answers as he poses questions without expecting a reply. Utilizing strategically placed speakers in public spaces, the installation alters the perception of the surroundings, inspiring fresh interpretations and new stories.
