Authors Cléo Jansen and Tom Tirabosco present a probing investigation into the proposed future collider at CERN. Their book examines the scientific, ethical and societal questions raised by a project of this scale: the role of research, our relationship to technological progress and the wider environmental and social impacts. By meeting scientists, engineers, economists and philosophers, they juxtapose perspectives and invite reflection on the choices we make in the name of knowledge.

Anna Desraux (actress–musician), Jeanne Mermet (engineer–musician) and Gabriel Cotte (limnologist and science communicator) combine performance, technical practice and aquatic science to guide participants.

Drawing on scientific data, the workshop investigates the lake’s breathing rhythms through guided breathing exercises, verb-based prompts and collaborative songwriting. Participants translate limnological patterns into poetic verbs and melodies, then develop lyrics and simple musical settings that reveal the lake’s vitality and temporal dynamics.

Saturday 10 October, 10:00

Guided by puppeteers Cécile Chevalier and Franck Fedele of Tête-dans-le-sac marionnettes, this hands-on workshop introduces participants to puppet construction and the basics of manipulation. In a playful, practice-focused session, attendees will explore materials, simple mechanisms and performance gestures to bring a creation to life. Suitable for the general public from age nine; children must be accompanied by an adult. Learning outcomes include construction techniques and movement fundamentals.
