Retsina Cola channels the raw intimacy of rebetiko, a Greek urban music born from Asia Minor exile. The young quartet, composed of Alexios Koutsourelis (bouzouki and vocals), Giorgos Goudousakis (guitar and vocals), Melina Vasiliki Paraskevopoulou (percussion and vocals) and Ioannis Christakopoulos (accordion and vocals), blends plaintive melodies, driving rhythms and close vocal interplay. Their repertoire navigates longing, thwarted love and social struggle, stirred by oriental spices and smoky textures that evoke tavern nights and collective memory.

Village des Cultures offers a cycle of adult workshops organized by ADEM and eMa, focusing on world music, voice and dance practices. Participants explore circle songs, cantos de trabajo, body percussion and diverse dance forms—sabar and flamenco—through practical sessions led by artists and pedagogues including Marine Pelletrau-Duris, Rebecca Roger Cruz, Roberto Castillo, Khady Sarr, Mbar Ndiaye and Felipe Clivio. The programme emphasizes technique, cultural context and collective improvisation to develop expressive and rhythmic skills.

Frédéric Thierstein presents a one-man band set of drums and live loops that blends grungy riffs, throat-singing echoes and disco-pop quirks. Drawing on a quarter-century of collaborations, his compositions stitch together ‘borborygmes loopés’ with obsessive rhythms and unexpected alpine touches, creating a hypnotic, playful odyssey. The performance relies on raw percussion, layered vocal exploration and electronic textures to shift between intimacy and ecstatic drive. Composition and performance: Frédéric Thierstein. Conducted by Zofia Kiniorska, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande unfolds a richly coloured soundscape across four 20th-century works from the Russian, French and Swiss repertoire. Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony playfully upends 18th-century conventions, combining wit with razor‑sharp energy. Frank Martin’s Concerto for Seven Wind Instruments offers lucid, finely balanced polyphony where instrumental lines converse with clarity. Ravel’s writing turns more sensual in Le Tombeau de Couperin before the virtuosic brilliance of Tzigane closes the programme in a whirlwind of raw energy.
