Les Athénéennes Festival

The Athénéennes festival offers 11 evenings of classical music, jazz, rock, and DJ sets. In its 14th edition, the festival explores the theme of Eros and Thanatos, the tension between the drive for life and death. Featuring internationally and nationally acclaimed artists like lutenist Thomas Dunford, the Ensemble Sequenza 9.3 choir, and pianist Jean-Marc Luisada, the performances promise to be eclectic and captivating. Primarily held at the Alhambra, with some concerts at the Temple de la Madeleine.

In Geneva for 5 weeks, the Cirque du Soleil’s Kurios transforms the stage into a fantastical steampunk world where a curious inventor’s imagination takes flight. Daring acrobats, contortionists, and whimsical characters bring his chaotic cabinet of curiosities to life in a poetic, high-energy spectacle that celebrates wonder and possibility.

28 May – 1 June

The Agapé Festival returns for its 17th edition, offering 11 concerts and a theater play at the Salle Frank Martin. This event showcases masterpieces by renowned composers like Bach, Vivaldi, and Handel, taking audiences on musical journeys through Armenia, Iran, and the Mediterranean basin. This edition pays tribute to Notre Dame de Paris. Notable performances include the Ensemble Correspondances under the direction of Sébastien Daucé, among others.

Port-Royal by Montherlant delves into the resistance of the nuns at Port-Royal against ecclesiastical and royal authority during Louis XIV’s reign. Through iconic figures like Pascal and Racine, Montherlant, an atheist, explores the spiritual and political turmoil of Jansenism. With powerful language, he portrays the doubts, strength, and defiance of these women confronting a male-dominated power, a theme that continues to resonate today.

Collective creation by À l’Ouest Cie and Guillaume Pidancet, freely inspired by the tale Bluebeard by Charles Perrault, and enriched with other Swiss stories.
