The Festival de la Cité Lausanne transforms the city into a vibrant stage, offering free access to an eclectic mix of theatre, dance, music, circus, literature, visual arts, and architecture. With a sharp, inclusive, and curious artistic direction, the festival celebrates in-situ creation and the intersection of art and society. Each edition reinvents itself with daring interdisciplinary projects, surprising collaborations, and a strong focus on emerging talents and public space. Far from traditional venues, it invites all audiences to experience the richness of contemporary art in an open, playful, and communal spirit.
Led by artist Rachel Maisonneuve, participants step into the roles of journalists to produce humorous and spooky audio segments, exploring a family home where objects come to life.

As part of the “Partir en livres” programme, whose theme for this summer is “Animals and us”, let’s discover the gifts given by all the animals of the Arctic on the occasion of Koulou’s birth. After looking at the Inuit objects in the permanent exhibition, let’s listen to Koulou’s poem in the music room of the library. The visit will end with listening to Inuit sounds.

The invites children to embark on an artistic adventure with workshops in dance, music, storytelling, and visual arts. Kids will delve into the music of ancient Egypt and the rhythms of southern Italy. A novel activity this year is a computer-assisted music workshop.

Immerse yourself in an exceptional evening dedicated to classical music, featuring works by César Franck, Richard Strauss, Robert Schumann, and Sergei Prokofiev. Under the artistic direction of Sergey Ostrovsky and Noémie Bialobroda, the program includes Strauss’s Sonata for Violin and Piano, Schumann’s Fantasiestücke for Viola and Piano, Prokofiev’s Sonata for Cello and Piano, and Franck’s Piano Quintet in F Minor.
The library team invites you to explore biodiversity with outdoor activities, including games, coloring, storytelling, and readings in the garden. Enjoy books and tales about the plant world, engage in board games, and relish a playful and creative exploration of biodiversity in a relaxed setting. Should the weather not cooperate, activities will continue indoors at the Mediation Space. These events complement the “Our Biodiversity” exhibition at the Botanical Garden.
