More than fifty Geneva-based artists open their studios to reveal processes, research and recent projects. The event presents a cross-section of contemporary artistic practices, from intimate experiments to finished works, and includes an exhibition programme and an artists’ market showcasing original creations. Through studio visits and encounters, the presentation foregrounds material investigations, modes of exchange and the everyday labour of making, inviting reflection on creative processes, community networks and the diversity of artistic approaches.

Simultanés

Marie Ducaté presents Simultanés, an installation that transposes the spirit and traces of her studio into a theatre of objects. Combining ceramics, tracing paper, watercolor, textile and glass, the work sits at the intersection of pop culture and art history. The installation foregrounds a chromatic range from vivid colour to transparency and investigates the sensuality of materials, inviting close attention to texture, surface and the intimate relationships between form and materiality. L’ordre mis en jeu – Gerhard Hotter

German artist Gerhard Hotter (born 1954) presents a survey of works that unfolds across five decades, exploring play as a mode of learning and experimentation. Early paintings from the 1980s evoke inner labyrinths populated by chess pieces, playing cards and miniature toys; later works evolve into modular constructions inspired by Bauhaus toys, privileging pure form, volume, colour and combinable structures. Hotter employs Langford sequences as compositional tools, situating his practice within concrete art where order becomes an active, playful principle. Recent pieces expand this enquiry through relief, light and spatial interventions.

The Tender Buttons exhibition offers a multidisciplinary exploration centered on buttons, delving into their identity and historical significance. Featuring over three hundred ceramic and glass buttons, the exhibition interacts with the museum’s works to highlight their role in both formal experimentation and socio-cultural narratives. The exhibition’s architecture evokes the commercial arcades of the 19th century, a pivotal era for button industrialization. Curated by Claire FitzGerald, the exhibition is supported by the Swiss Fashion Museum and showcases never-before-seen pieces from several prestigious collections.

Lovay Fine Arts

The exhibition brings together three artists, Nnena Kalu, Linda Bell and Marie Gyger, whose practices examine repetitive gesture as a daily discipline. Gyger reflects on the value of labour, while Bell and Kalu pursue more spontaneous, obsessive procedures. Their works, ranging from repetitive drawings and object accumulation to installations and assembled images, show how accumulation sculpts pictorial forms and material narratives, inviting reflection on labour, ritual and the construction of visual meaning.

Naturæ brings together works by Silvia Bächli, Erik Bulatov, Jean Crotti, Franz Gertsch, Fabrice Gygi, Alex Hanimann, Alain Huck, Claudio Moser, Leanne Picthall and Melissa Steckbauer. Through a diversity of practices and generations, this group exhibition explores different artistic approaches to the natural world and its representation.

Dany Gignoux (photographer) and poet Georges Haldas present a compelling dialogue between documentary photography and lyrical prose. The exhibition brings together photographs and written fragments that register everyday life in Geneva’s cafés, combining on-the-spot reportage with memory-infused “prose inspirée.” Through intimate black-and-white images and spare, evocative texts the works transfigure mundane scenes into poetic testimony, revealing social undercurrents and human tenderness. Archival materials frame this historic encounter between two generations of cultural chroniclers.
