The piece interrogates the politics of the voice as opera sheds its white pageant to become raw material, desire, anger and tenderness. Raul Midón is a virtuosic guitarist and singer whose golden voice blends jazz, soul and folk into an intimate, rhythmic sound world. Blind from birth, the New Mexico–born artist transformed his difference into a singular creative force. Trained at the University of Miami, he has collaborated with Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and Bill Withers, and performed on stages from New York to Montreux. Alone on stage, Midón combines percussive guitar, supple vocal phrasing and his astonishing “mouth‑trumpet” to create moments of pure emotion and groove.
Winter of Caecilia gathers seven local theatre productions that revisit contemporary and classic forms through monologue and solo performance. Artists such as Nastassja Tanner, Ahmed Belbachir, Roland Vouilloz and Vincent Jacquet offer intimate, visceral interpretations, while texts by playwrights like Fabrice Melquiot are brought to life under directors including Jean‑Yves Ruf. The programme mixes poetic, comic and physically charged pieces that privilege sensory staging and emotional immediacy, inviting audiences into distinct, singular theatrical universes.

Director Jean Liermier underscores how, in Molière’s work, the female characters serve as the moral compass and spark of resistance, a beacon of hope against oppression. Staged on a stark, minimalist set that exposes the family’s rigid tensions—and featuring Gilles Privat as an unbending Orgon—this production highlights the play’s continuing resonance in a world beset by egotism, fanaticism, and conspiracy thinking. The central question remains timeless: will society keep falling for Tartuffe’s brand of seductive deceit?

In seven acts, he delves into pivotal anecdotes to question gender imperatives from childhood to adulthood. The play, “Le Premier Sexe,” addresses the journey from oppression to emancipation and the shift from toxic masculinity to a distinctive masculine identity. Produced by Compagnie Passages, with Mickaël Délis responsible for both writing and directing, in collaboration with Vladimir Perrin and other artists.
