ELLES brings together powerful contemporary Aboriginal women artists whose work bridges ancestral storytelling and modern abstraction. Featuring major figures such as Emily Kam Kngwarray and Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori, alongside artists from the Bérengère Primat Collection / Fondation Opale, the exhibition at the Musée Rath highlights symbolic, vibrant works rooted in land, memory, and spirituality. Between tradition and contemporary expression, these intimate visual cartographies celebrate the deep connection between culture, nature, and creation.
Beat Zoderer’s first exhibition with lange + pult in Geneva presents a new series of works inspired by the economy of haiku. In these small-format pieces, the artist translates brevity, precision, and tension into the pictorial field through grids and modular patterns. Layered, translucent colors create subtle depth and shifting perceptions, while recurring square motifs generate a restrained yet vibrant rhythm. Rooted in concrete art, the series stands out for its quiet, almost meditative quality, where meaning emerges from the balance between form, color, and visual silence.
Opening on Thursday 15 January, from 18:00.
La Cuisine des Collectionneurs is a convivial, evolving exhibition where contemporary art meets gastronomy. The project invites four collectors to curate walls from their personal collections. It blends scenography, shared collecting, and a collective display, extended into the kitchen through an ephemeral menu inspired by their worlds. Conceived as a living space, the exhibition unfolds with talks, meals, and gatherings over time, celebrating exchange, generosity, and the pleasure of art—on the walls and on the plate.
Niels Hung, a graduate of HEAD–Genève, investigates his multicultural identity through painting shaped by American and Asian visual cultures. His works—repainted canvases and mixed-format paintings—often reappropriate images found online and in the street, interrogating contemporary image production and its slipperiness. Employing layered pictorial strategies and referential iconography, Hung stages a critical dialogue that oscillates between fascination and critique. He also joined the Work.Master teaching team in 2024 and engages with questions of artistic production and the artist’s condition.
Swiss artist Grégory Sugnaux presents a body of paintings that stage ambiguous, often hybrid figures—part human, part animal, serial androids and distorted, sometimes monstrous bodies. Combining grotesque allusion with ironic self-reflection, he mixes genres and pictorial techniques to render surfaces alternately smooth and vibrating, fracturing legibility.
A composed soundtrack threads through the installation, amplifying the exhibition’s uneasy pulsation. The works negotiate a fragile balance between fascination and self-critique, revealing vulnerability beneath playful, unsettling imagery.
As part of Art Genève / Musique 2026, the Temple de la Servette presents Before Demolition, a cycle of performances exploring space in transition through body, voice, and sound. Curated by Augustin Maurs with co-curator Catherine Othenin-Girard, the program features works by Monica Bonvicini, Alicia Frankovich, Hanne Lippard with Renato Grieco, and a live set by Bonnie Banane, followed by a DJ set from Jan Vorisek. This edition responds to the impending demolition of the brutalist temple building, celebrating ephemeral, performative, and sonic creations that dismantle, challenge, and renew.
