The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the baton of Neeme Järvi, performs Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem” featuring soprano Julie Fuchs, baritone Matthias Goerne, and the Zürcher Sing-Akademie. Composed in the wake of the deaths of Brahms’ mother and his friend Robert Schumann, this poignant work offers a universal message of comfort that transcends religious boundaries.

The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, under the baton of Neeme Järvi, presents Brahms’ “Ein deutsches Requiem” with soprano Julie Fuchs, baritone Matthias Goerne, and the Zürcher Sing-Akademie. This powerful work marks the return of the former music director, often missing from the usual repertoire. Composed after personal losses, this Requiem offers solace to the living with its German biblical texts. It signifies an important milestone in Brahms’ artistic journey.

Led by Dee Dee Bridgewater (vocals), the Quartet — with Carmen Staaf (piano), Rosa Brunello (bass) and Shirazette Tinnin (drums) — presents the project “We Exist!”. The performance weaves expressive, elegant jazz that connects past and present through warm phrasing and incisive improvisation. The quartet’s interplay and subtle arrangements create an intimate, luminous atmosphere, shifting between tender balladry and buoyant swing.
