Thursday 21 May, 20:00

Two masterful settings of the Magnificat, by J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach, present a dialogue between different baroque idioms. The programme highlights radiant choral textures, intimate solo arias and agile instrumental writing, balancing exultant choruses with moments of quiet reflection. Attention to phrasing, articulation and historic performance practice brings clarity and emotional depth, inviting listeners into the sacred and expressive world of late seventeenth- and eighteenth-century music.

Tuesday 26 May, 20:00

Under the baton of John Axelrod, the Orchestra Filarmonica di Puglia teams with MUSIKAIROS for a program pairing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana with Francis Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos. Soloists John Osborn (tenor), Bogdan Baciu (baritone) and Varduhi Khachatryan (soprano) drive the cantata’s elemental choral eruptions, while pianists Lucas Chiche and David Chen trade witty, lyrical passages in Poulenc’s score. The evening balances raw rhythmic energy and intimate lyricism, with vivid orchestral colours shaping a dramatic, theatrical soundscape.

Saturday 30 May, 11:00

The OSR presents a cine-concert featuring Charlie Chaplin’s “City Lights”. Conducted by Philippe Béran, the 90-minute session offers a fresh perspective on this silent film classic with a live orchestration, enhancing the experience of this iconic movie.

Sunday 31 May 2026, 18:00

The orchestra is set to perform under the baton of Teodor Currentzis, featuring violinist Vilde Frang. On the program is Alban Berg’s Violin Concerto “To the memory of an angel” and Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 “Titan.” This event is part of the Migros-Pour-cent-culturel-Classics concert series.

3 & 4 June

The OSR, under the batons of Daniel Harding, will perform Jörg Widmann’s Viola Concerto with Antoine Tamestit as the soloist, followed by Wagner’s “The Ring Without Words” . In this concerto, Tamestit assumes roles that go beyond being a violist, engaging as an actor, dancer, conductor, and violist, and interacting dynamically with the orchestra. The evening’s second half is dedicated to Lorin Maazel’s arrangement of Wagner’s “Ring,” which ingeniously transforms the opera into a cohesive symphonic poem.

3 – 4 June 2026, 19:30

The OSR and soloist Antoine Tamestit will perform Jörg Widmann’s Viola Concerto, a challenging piece that showcases the musician’s diverse skills. The program also features Wagner’s “The Ring Without Words,” an orchestral arrangement by Lorin Maazel that condenses fourteen hours of music into one hour. The event is conducted by Daniel Harding.
