Victoria Hall is a prominent concert hall housed in a majestic neoclassical building. This historic venue is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, making it a favored destination for music enthusiasts. While occasionally featuring other musical genres, Victoria Hall remains predominantly dedicated to the world of classical music.
The Solistes de Beyrouth, a renowned vocal ensemble from Lebanon, will perform a gala concert at Geneva’s Victoria Hall to support Caritas Lebanon. Led by Fernando Afara, with mezzo-soprano Carine Séchaye and organist Yves Lafargue, the program will feature works by Poulenc, Bizet, Mascagni, Verdi, as well as Lebanese music.
Anohni and the Johnsons are set to make a comeback with a rare performance at Victoria Hall. Known for her haunting voice, Anohni blends pop and electro with political activism, tackling issues such as ecology, gender, and social justice. Her work, both intimate and universal, weaves melancholy with rebellion, providing a uniquely visceral sonic experience.
Japanese conductor Seiji Ozawa established an academy in 2004 focusing on string quartets, bringing together 20 young soloists annually. Led by Kazuki Yamada, the Seiji Ozawa International Academy Switzerland is dedicated to nurturing the talents of the future.
The Orchestre de la Suisse Romande will kick off the 2025-26 season at Victoria Hall with a captivating concert featuring works by Saariaho, Furrer, and Berlioz, under the baton of Jonathan Nott. The evening will showcase pianist Francesco Piemontesi and violist Elçim Özdemir. The program includes “Ciel d’hiver” by Kaija Saariaho, the world premiere of Beat Furrer’s “Piano Concerto No. 2,” and Berlioz’s “Harold en Italie.”
Renowned baritone Matthias Goerne collaborates with the Geneva Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Raphaël Merlin, in a concert featuring works by Franz Schubert and Gustav Mahler. The program includes Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” and “Symphony No. 4 Tragic,” alongside Mahler’s “Kindertotenlieder.” This performance delves into the heartrending theme of a child’s death, handled with powerful emotion by both composers. Raphaël Merlin highlights the emotional strength and passion of these pieces, enhanced by the commanding voice of Matthias Goerne.
The Leipzig Symphony, under the baton of Knut Andreas, offers an exciting evening dedicated to Spanish classical music, featuring works by Bizet, Giménez, Falla, Sarasate, Strauss, Rimski-Korsakov, and Ravel. Violin soloist Antonio Palanović will take center stage. The program promises fiery rhythms and intense emotions, culminating with Ravel’s renowned “Boléro,” celebrated for its mesmerizing crescendo.
