Sara Correia, a rising star in the world of fado, takes the stage at Geneva’s Victoria Hall for an extraordinary evening as part of the Grandes Voix du Fado series. As a natural heir to the fado tradition, she is celebrated for her powerful voice and magnetic presence. Born in Lisbon and mentored by legendary figures, she won the Grande Noite do Fado at just 13 years old. With three critically acclaimed albums, she has become a prominent ambassador of modern fado, while still honoring its traditional roots. Having received numerous accolades and international recognition, she also shares her expertise as a coach on The Voice Portugal. Her latest album, “Liberdade,” is a blend of traditional fados and contemporary compositions.
The Festival Les Inoubliables, in collaboration with the Orchestre de Chambre de Genève (OCG), celebrates distinguished female composers with a closing gala concert. Under the baton of Nikita Sorokine, and featuring the vocal talents of Amadi Lagha, Amelia Feuer, along with violinist Esther Abrami, the event highlights the works of Ethel Smyth, Augusta Holmès, and Ina Boyle. Julie Conti will add a touch of humor to this evening dedicated to the power of female orchestral and vocal music. The concert concludes with the jazzy melodies of Blossom Dearie, emphasizing the historical significance of women composers in the realm of symphonic repertoire.
Experience a unique performance, featuring Aleksey Igudesman on violin and Hyung-Ki Joo on piano. They will present a captivating reinterpretation of Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9, “From the New World.” This innovative musical experience promises to redefine the conventions of classical concerts, offering an engaging take on a beloved masterpiece. The program lasts approximately 80 minutes, performed without intermission.
The Orchestre Concertus Genève and the Ensemble Vocal Orphée de Genève, under the direction of Matthieu Schweyer, are set to present a selection of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Requiem KV 626, Ave Verum Corpus KV 618, and Laudate Dominum KV 339. Featured soloists include soprano Karine Mkrtchyan, mezzo-soprano Mi-Young Kim, tenor Louis Zaitoun, and bass Seong-Ho Han.
The OSSJ offers an exciting program featuring works by Rossini, Rachmaninov, and Strauss, showcasing pianist Benjamin Engeli and conductor Johannes Schlaefli. The concert includes the “William Tell” Overture by Rossini, Rachmaninov’s “Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini,” and Strauss’s bold compositions “Don Juan” and “Till Eulenspiegel,” each exploring various aspects of human emotion.
Le Motet will perform Maurice Duruflé’s Requiem along with other sacred music pieces by Caplet, Ropartz, and Villette at Victoria Hall in Geneva. The event is directed by Romain Mayor and features performances by mezzo-soprano Annina Haug, baritone Alexandre Beuchat, and organist Humberto Salvagnin.
