
Located on the edge of Geneva’s old town, the Alhambra has been part of the city’s cultural landscape since its establishment in 1920. It primarily serves as a venue for contemporary music events, organized by private entities and non-profit associations. Led by artistic director Talya G.A. Solan, Yamma Teiman revives the rare repertoire of Yemeni Jewish women’s songs through luminous vocal harmonies. Featuring singers Michal Zandani and Moran Al Yamaniya with Avri Borochov’s arrangements, the ensemble blends oud, ney, double bass and percussion (David Cohen, Guy Yehezkel, Avri Borochov, Ariel Smith) to convey intimacy, resilience and ancestral memory. The refined arrangements and warm textures transform private songs into a communal, deeply moving musical journey that balances poetry, fervour and emotional clarity.
Legendary Moroccan band Nass El Ghiwane presents a ritual-like musical journey blending traditional melodies, call-and-response vocals and raw, hypnotic rhythms. Its singers and instrumentalists weave oud motifs and percussive grooves into dense, immersive soundscapes where communal storytelling and poetic lyricism unfold. The staging relies on atmospheric lighting and careful sound textures to shift moods from intimate introspection to communal exultation, creating a transcendent, bodily experience that resonates across generations.
Formed as a seven-member collective, TRENDZ build a strong artistic identity through bold vocals, a distinctive rap line and meticulous choreography. The group writes and composes much of their material, favouring authenticity over prefabricated styles. Their evolving sound blends polished pop clarity with emotional depth, while production and lighting sculpt a stage of precise gestures and kinetic energy. Intense but measured, the performances reward close attention and reveal gradual transformations in tone and presence.
Radhika Das offers an intimate, luminous concert centred on mantra, meditation and movement. Joined by a dedicated ensemble, he weaves vocal chants and layered melodies into spacious, trance-inflected arrangements that invite communal listening and subtle dance. The set explores the intersection of traditional devotional forms and contemporary songwriting, favouring meditative atmospheres, cyclical rhythms and warm acoustic textures. Led by the Big Band des Eaux-Vives, this concert reimagines classic hard-bop repertoire with original arrangements of works by Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Lee Morgan, Freddie Hubbard and Oliver Nelson. The ensemble blends robust brass, propulsive rhythms and moments of lyrical reflection, creating a lively tribute to the spirit of the Messengers. Special guest Daniel Leveillé extends the music into movement with virtuosic tap, while attentive staging and lighting sculpt a warm, dynamic sound-world.
