Intermezzi: Daily Journal of the Simone Weil Pavilion

Matteo Michelini presents 78 daily journals created at Thomas Hirschhorn’s Simone Weil Pavilion, tracing an ongoing exchange between writing, artistic practice and lived experience. Readings from Denkraum, his intimate notebook published alongside the journals, are paired with a live sound creation by Androo. The project reflects on the slow accumulation of daily forms, where text becomes both document and artistic gesture. It also frames publishing itself as a site of creation, memory and preservation.

Permanent exhibition

More a time capsule than a traditional museum. Step into Countess Zoubov’s elegant 18th-century world, where furniture, paintings, porcelain, and decorative arts remain arranged much as she intended in the 1950s. Among the 525 recorded pieces are numerous objects connected to Catherine II’s Russia.

There’s another Geneva beneath the Old Town. Descend under St Peter’s Cathedral to walk through more than 2,000 years of history, from pre-Christian remains to the city’s earliest churches. It’s one of those places you can walk past a hundred times without guessing what lies beneath.

26 October – 16 December

An exhibition devoted to ancient fakes, copies, imitations and falsifications. Drawing on selections from the Ostraca Collection, complemented by cast collection pieces and loans, the display examines the porous boundary between forgery, copy, imitation and authenticity. Interpretive panels, object labels and a slideshow on several notorious forgeries contextualize the works, tracing techniques, materials and historical practices that shaped both deception and scholarly detection.

4 November – 12 February

This exhibition brings together 19 works by Geneva-born artist Alexandre Perrier, including seven oil paintings, five pastels and seven drawings. Perrier’s landscapes of the Alps, Mont Blanc, the Salève, Lake Geneva and Praz-de-Lys distill the shifting play of light and atmosphere into delicate, contemplative visions. The selection highlights his sensitive attention to nature’s emotional resonance and offers a rare chance to revisit an artist whose work bridges modernity, landscape poetry and a deeply rooted sense of place.

18 September – 7 November

Artist Lou Masdurand presents a recent body of work that interrogates memory and materiality through layered painting and sculptural assemblage. Using oil, collage and found materials, Masdurand builds textured surfaces and precarious forms that record time and erosion. The exhibition examines thresholds between private recollection and shared history, privileging tactility, repetition and subtle ruptures in composition. Works demand sustained attention, inviting viewers to consider processes of making as traces of cultural and personal narrative.

17 September – 19 December

Dia al-Azzawi presents a new ensemble of recent paintings and sculptures that trace a dialogue between the artist’s interior worlds and his engagement with landscape. In the “Inner Worlds” strand he probes memory, introspection, human relationships and domestic spaces that inform his imagery. In “Under Open Skies” the gaze widens to gardens, light and natural vistas, with recurring references to the Jardin Majorelle in Marrakech. The works combine expressive painting techniques with sculptural presence and a poetic modernist language.
