Author Talk with Iris Brey

Iris Brey, author, filmmaker and cinema theorist, presents Une réponse, a hybrid of essay and autofiction that interweaves intimate reflection and cultural analysis. She is known for Le Regard féminin, in which she develops the concept of the female gaze, and for coordinating La Culture de l’inceste. Nathalie Garbely, a Swiss comparative literature translator and poet, contributes perspectives from translation and queer poetics.

Guided by puppeteers Cécile Chevalier and Franck Fedele of Tête-dans-le-sac marionnettes, this hands-on workshop introduces participants to puppet construction and the basics of manipulation. In a playful, practice-focused session, attendees will explore materials, simple mechanisms and performance gestures to bring a creation to life. Suitable for the general public from age nine; children must be accompanied by an adult. Learning outcomes include construction techniques and movement fundamentals.

These guided walks examine the theatrical and performance heritage of Geneva’s central district, tracing how venues, spaces and public life have shaped local cultural practices. Through close observation and commentary, participants explore architectural traces, historical narratives and the social roles of performance sites. The walks reveal connections between urban form and performing arts, offering interpretive tools to understand cultural landscapes and their evolution.
