Jessica Decorvet – Opening

Free, Booking Required

After several months in residence at the Florimont Institute, Jessica Decorvet presents to the public the fruits of her work and the encounters that have shaped her time at the school. The exhibition brings together several works by the artist, including a piece created especially at the Institute, presented alongside works by the students. The exhibition offers an opportunity to discover not only a contemporary artistic practice, but also how a residency can become a space for experimentation, sharing and collective creation. An encounter between an artist’s perspective and that of the young people who have accompanied her along the way.

Artist presentation at 18:00.

John M Armleder presents an interchange-based exhibition that foregrounds objects drawn from students’ suitcases. Through object-based works and subtle interventions, the show probes modes of observation, intimacy and collective memory. Personal belongings are rearranged as visual prompts that evoke histories, pedagogy and everyday cinematics. The artist’s restrained interventions invite reflection on how small domestic items circulate meanings and facilitate encounters, revealing how private narratives surface within a communal field of attention.

Conceived by artist Pauline Coquart, Short Ass Attention Span #3 mixes literary experiment and live performance, assembling texts that range from apocalyptic sketches to risqué autofiction and political essays on sexuality. Editors and collaborators Ethan Assouline and Gaia Vincensini shaped the selection and the edition’s visual identity, while attentive editorial direction and inventive layout treat writing as performative material. The project foregrounds plural contemporary voices, shifting between intimate confession, sharp aphorism and sprawling narrative to create a charged, porous atmosphere.

Tucked inside the historic Commanderie de Compesières, this unusual collection traces the military and humanitarian history of the Order of Malta through uniforms, paintings, manuscripts, medals and coins. A niche museum with a setting to match — visits are by appointment, so a little planning is required.

Your eyes are about to lie to you. More than 60 optical illusions, holograms, and immersive rooms play with scale, perspective, and perception in this hands-on museum. Unashamedly fun, highly photogenic, and an easy pick for families, friends, or a rainy Geneva afternoon.

25 September – 24 January

Ferdinand Hodler: Profession of Faith examines for the first time the spiritual dimension in the work of Ferdinand Hodler (1853–1918). Through some twenty-five paintings, the exhibition traces his youthful biblical readings, his rare biblical scenes, and his relation to the Reformation and the city of Geneva. It also considers how notions of creation and the order of nature informed his symbolist language and his meditative landscapes, revealing the interplay between religious themes and formal concerns in his painting.

Permanent exhibition

Voltaire lived here — and that alone makes Les Délices worth knowing about. The historic residence houses manuscripts, artworks, and documents related to the philosopher and the Enlightenment. Access is more limited than at a conventional museum, so it works best as a special-visit recommendation.
