Just steps from the lake and facing the station, the Galerie du Boléro is a vibrant cultural hub where contemporary art meets community life. Exhibitions, concerts, talks and performances unfold in a space designed for curiosity and exchange.More than a gallery, it’s a living cultural crossroads—intimate yet dynamic—where local and international artists share the stage, and where Versoix’s creative energy takes shape.
This exhibition traces 161 years of Geneva’s engagement with mountaineering, foregrounding the contributions of local scientists, artists and mountaineers. Drawing on archival materials and historical records, it surveys developments in the sciences, technologies, arts and practices that shaped Alpine exploration. Through documents, images and curated sequences, the show examines networks of knowledge, the material culture of ascent, and shifting ideas about landscape and risk. It reveals how Geneva’s communities exerted sustained influence on international mountaineering.

Sara Oswald blends cello and voice into an intimate, mountain‑inflected sound world. The Vaud-born cellist presents selections from her 2022 solo album Bivouac, where bowed textures, plaintive melodies and sparse electronics conjure high-altitude atmospheres. Her work with Les Young Gods, Sophie Hunger and Pascal Oberson feeds an experimental yet lyrical approach. On stage she alternates fragile lyricism and raw resonance, shaping concentrated moments of reflection that linger in the listener’s memory.
