5 + 5 = Y (Solo Exhibition)

Stéphane Ducret presents Being Matters, an immersive series of recent paintings that map psyche and the living realm. The presentation gathers seven large to very large oil paintings on linen alongside a series of small-format works on wood. Through layered surfaces, deliberate errors and a dense pictorial process, Ducret explores invisible mechanisms of thought, memory and introspection. The works function as atmospheric studies of materiality and painterly gesture, charting states of mind and organic presence.

Martin Hyde presents an exhibition examining the relationships between painting, object, ceramics, design and poetry. His practice blurs boundaries between disciplines, producing works that sit between painted surfaces, ceramic forms and functional design, often scaled to engage the surrounding architecture. The show presents sculptural paintings and crafted objects that consider materiality, repetition and the poetics of domestic forms and scale.

Dany Gignoux (photographer) and poet Georges Haldas present a compelling dialogue between documentary photography and lyrical prose. The exhibition brings together photographs and written fragments that register everyday life in Geneva’s cafés, combining on-the-spot reportage with memory-infused “prose inspirée.” Through intimate black-and-white images and spare, evocative texts the works transfigure mundane scenes into poetic testimony, revealing social undercurrents and human tenderness. Archival materials frame this historic encounter between two generations of cultural chroniclers.

Ken-You Ferrero presents luminous paper sculptures that explore nature and light. Working with tissue paper and washi, the artist constructs refined, fragile and symbolic forms that dialogue with materiality, balance and the living. The works emphasise translucency, subtle textures and the interplay of shadow and glow, offering a contemplative experience that interrogates fragility, regeneration and the intimate connections between craft and natural phenomena.

Jean-Étienne Liotard’s portraits of the imperial family, notably Marie‑Antoinette, include eleven drawings widely regarded as masterpieces. This project examines the identification of the sitter children and the works’ provenance through a cross-disciplinary investigation. In collaboration with the University of Oxford, the Idiap research institute and the School of Criminal Sciences at the University of Lausanne, historians of art and specialists in the eighteenth century join AI researchers and forensic experts to reveal new insights into authorship and history.

Permanent exhibition

One museum, centuries of stories. Geneva’s largest museum brings archaeology, fine arts, and decorative arts under one roof, moving from ancient civilisations to major European and Swiss artists. A classic for a reason — and big enough to warrant more than one visit.
