This lecture traces the history of the prefabricated Swiss chalet, from its alpine origins to global dissemination. It examines how an emblematic architectural form shifted from vernacular tradition to industrial production, and how imaginaries, technical innovation and modernity shaped its manufacture and export. Attendees will gain insight into production processes, cultural circulation and the tensions between authenticity and commodification.
