Emergentia 2027 brings together the next generation of choreographers from Geneva and beyond in a two‑week festival of new performance and research. Conceived and produced by three Geneva organizations, the program juxtaposes site-specific creations, international residencies, open studios revealing works-in-progress, and embodied workshops and conversations. Performances range from half-hour episodes to hour-long narratives and beyond, driven by a tight ensemble of improvisers who build sustained dramatic arcs, shifting tones and unexpected emotional turns. The creative approach privileges listening, risk and theatrical economy, offering immersive, spontaneous storytelling rooted in theatrical craft and collective play.

Directed by Jean Bellorini in collaboration with Yang Hua Theatre, this staging reimagines Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s Le Petit Prince with the title character portrayed by a Chinese actor. The production blends French and Mandarin dialogue with live music by singers from China’s independent scene. Actors François Deblock and Marc Plas perform alongside a cast that shifts between a childlike prince, an ancient reciter of poems and fantastical cosmic inhabitants. The staging mixes song, poetry and intimate theatricality, exploring friendship and human connection.

Created and performed by Elina Kulikova and Dima Efremov, TRILOGIE DE LA GUERRE interweaves three musical-performance pieces responding to exile, the war in Ukraine and repression in Russia. Kulikova’s chapters evoke classical and folk song, transforming lament into a ritualised, sensory mourning; Efremov’s contribution uses sound art and electro textures to shift perspective and map clandestine networks of resistance. Together the trilogy forms a compact dramaturgy of intimacy, unease and fragile hope, immersive and politically charged.
Told as a solo performance, this piece follows a woman as she remembers the films that shaped her life and blurs the line between cinema and memory. Through references to science-fiction sagas and cinematic archetypes — the woman-soldier, the survivor, the reluctant mother — the show probes identity, fear of change and the ways stories migrate from screen to skin. Sparse staging and intimate narration create a haunting, introspective atmosphere.
