Ethno Fridays: Yèfira — From the Aegean to the Black Sea

Booking Required

Yèfira draws from Greek repertoires at the crossroads of the Aegean and Black Sea, weaving Balkan and Anatolian traditions into intimate, poetic soundscapes. Vocalist Katerina Karagianni and percussionist Jérôme Salomon intertwine with Evangelos Sotiropoulos’s lyras and Frédéric Commenchal’s saz and oud, alternating festive Thracian rhythms that verge on trance and reflective Asia Minor melodies. The ensemble’s textures—rich contrasts of voice and strings—are framed through a co-production with Ateliers d’Ethnomusicologie, supported by the City of Geneva.
