Garderobes: Sustainable Fashion Fair

This public fair explores sustainable fashion through reuse, repair, recycling and redesign. It brings together creators, ethical brands and community initiatives to examine circular approaches, second‑hand markets, repair cafés, creative workshops and a fashion show that foregrounds ethical design. Visitors learn practical strategies to extend garment lifecycles, discover upcycling techniques and engage in discussions on fast fashion’s environmental and social impacts. The programme also features talks and an exhibition of artworks by Geneva schools.

Designed for emerging professionals and recent graduates, this workshop explores puppetry through the creation of a short performance. Curator Eloi Contesse’s guided tour focuses on Gignoux’s photographic archives, illuminating the artist’s approach to framing, sequence and context, and how images and texts together evoke memory, community and the rhythms of daily life.

2 – 9 May

This community festival gathers experts, artists and citizens to imagine shared futures and stimulate collective reflection. Through immersive exhibitions, debates, workshops and performances, it explores major social, environmental and urban challenges and investigates pathways for sustainable transition. Sessions examine cross-cutting themes—innovation, governance, ecological adaptation and cultural practices—offering diverse perspectives and practical insights to help audiences understand systemic issues and identify strategies for local transformation.

Interstices gathers music, conversation and cross-cultural exchange, exploring interculturality through concerts, workshops, conferences and roundtables. Featuring a special guest trio from Rajasthan led by Asin Khan Langa — Aga Khan Music Awards 2022 laureate — the programme moves between intimate acoustic textures and energetic dance rhythms. Collaborative panels with cultural partners investigate music’s role amid contemporary tensions. The overall staging favors attentive listening, layered sonorities and moments of reflection that invite immersion and emotional resonance.

This guided visit explores the evolution of the city’s library from its foundation in the 16th century to the present, examining how collections have been assembled, conserved and transmitted across generations. It investigates the institution’s core missions—collection, preservation and public access—and discusses archival and conservation practices, curatorial decisions and the role of libraries in shaping cultural memory. Participants gain insight into how heritage is managed and why it matters for civic identity.

This guided tour explores the history and engineering of the Salève cable car, a landmark linking Geneva to the mountains. It examines early ascents, its inauguration and the technical challenges of construction and operation. Visiting the upper station reveals Maurice Braillard’s modernist concrete design and the structural solutions behind the installation. The session blends heritage, technology and architecture to explain how the cable car became an iconic cross-border monument.
