GIFF – 32nd Geneva International Film Festival

Founded in 1995, the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF) is one of Geneva’s longest-standing cinema festivals and among the first in the world to integrate television into its programming. A hub for experimentation, encounters, and celebration, the ten-day festival presents films, series, and immersive audiovisual experiences to some 35,000 visitors each year. GIFF also hosts the Geneva Digital Market, Switzerland’s only meeting point for professionals in innovation and audiovisual content, and maintains year-round activities including school programmes and GIFF UNLIMITED events. A developer, cartographer and practitioner with about fifteen years’ experience in the digital industry, she examines how Big Tech firms extend territorial influence through infrastructure, platforms and data control. This lecture investigates the geopolitical risks of technological imperialism and explores pathways to reduce dependency and reclaim digital sovereignty.

September 2025 – June 2026

LES SŒURS LUMIÈRE, the feminist film club of the Bibliothèque Filigrane, returns to Les Cinémas du Grütli with a cycle of six screenings from September 2025 to June 2026. Dedicated to the courtroom drama, this new edition offers a feminist re-reading of the genre, highlighting the challenges women face when confronted with moral and repressive orders.

Claire Rufenacht, dance therapist, is joined by dancer Pedro Ratto and cultural mediator Murielle Brunschwig, who offer complementary approaches to movement and cultural mediation.

These therapeutic workshops combine Argentine tango with adapted movement exercises for people with neurological conditions (Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, post-stroke and other movement disorders) and their caregivers. The sessions explore balance, rhythm and social engagement, examining how dance can support mobility, communication and emotional well-being.

This lecture proposes a new paradigm to better understand Trumpism, the history of the United States and the current era the country is traversing. It also offers concrete suggestions to counter the MAGA movement and discusses how Europeans can contribute to that struggle.

Author Christian Ciocca presents Mortelle audience, a rigorous investigation into the internal struggles of RTS Espace 2 since 2020. Ciocca examines how external pressures and mainstream trends challenge the cultural radio channel and interrogates the future of media diversity. The discussion explores institutional tensions, editorial choices and the broader implications for public-service broadcasting. Romaine Jean moderates the conversation and invites audience questions.
