“Actapalabra,” performed by Philippe Gouin and Joan Mompart, features two clowns navigating a wordless world with precise and humorous choreography. Drawing inspiration from Beckett, they employ special effects and appearances to craft engagingly funny scenarios. After its success at the Swiss Theater Days, the show will tour for around a hundred performances across Europe and Canada.
1000&1 BPMOdyssée is a collaborative endeavor between la Bâtie Festival, Pavillon de l’ADC, the Ballet of the Grand Théâtre, and the company Arts Mouvementés/Yasmine Hugonnet. This choreographic work delves into the emotions and states of the dancing body through its rhythms. Nine dancers navigate the beats of this emotional entity, all set to an original score by Michael Nick.

The Variations Musicales de Tannay is an intimate classical music festival held each summer in the scenic park of the Château de Tannay, in the canton of Vaud. Since its creation, the festival has welcomed internationally renowned artists alongside rising talents, offering high-quality concerts in a warm and inviting atmosphere. Marlene Monteiro Freitas kicks off the Festival d’Avignon with NÔT, a dance piece inspired by One Thousand and One Nights that weaves together tales of love, war, and adventure. This performance presents a dramatic confrontation between life and death, captivity and freedom, vice and virtue, and features a human architecture reminiscent of Goya, where desires and realities clash.
In tribute to Nina Simone, 50 years after her performance at the Montreux Jazz Festival, American soprano Claron McFadden revitalizes her repertoire. Listening to Nina Simone’s voice through her headphones, McFadden sings and mimics her songs and powerful speeches, offering the audience a deep connection to the artist’s emotions and insights, while allowing Simone’s voice to resonate within her and move the audience profoundly.
The biennial platform for emerging creators takes place at La Parfumerie, featuring four projects by regional artists this year. “A-Lien-és, éthéré,” by Lola Bill, Antoine Peduzzi, and Rebecca Erni, delves into the search for identity. Sylvia Wiederkehr’s “La Juanita” offers a theatrical exploration of a young Andean girl sacrificed 500 years ago. “The Rise and Fall of the Berlin Wall,” by Nora Dard, Serena Fourastié, Maël Bondi, and Raphaël Huchot, revisits the history of the Berlin Wall’s construction and collapse. “The Delicate Art of Being a Fangirl,” with Iris Baldoureaux-Fredon and Rachel Felli, examines fangirl culture.

Meanwhile, “After the silence [conversation with Vivian Maier]” by Delphine Hecquet and Clémentine Le Bas immerses itself in the world of the enigmatic photographer Vivian Maier, exploring her perspective and posthumous works. This stimulating initiative places the art of performance at the heart of the creative process.
