Eugène Ionesco’s “The Bald Soprano” is a quintessential work of absurdist theater, depicting the nonsensical and tedious interactions between two couples, the Smiths and the Martins. The arrival of the Fire Chief and the maid Marie sparks surreal situations and unexpected outbursts, before the Smiths dismiss the unlikely visitors and return to their original monotony. This production, directed by Cyril Kaiser, features puppets by Christophe Kiss alongside actors Vincent Babel, Nicole Bachmann, Blaise Granget, and Vanessa Battistini.
This performance is part of the Scène Vagabonde Festival.

Eduardo De Filippo’s “The Art of Comedy,” directed by Nalini Menamkat, is a satirical comedy that delves into the nuances of power and cultural influence. Driven by a team of young enthusiasts, ISTERIA turns Geneva into a hub of music and conviviality with a mix of live concerts and electrifying DJ sets. Trois mecs au bol is a surreal, offbeat creation by Lorin Kopp, Steven Matthews, and Mirko Verdesca, who also perform on stage. Blending absurd humour, music, and a touch of the grotesque, the show questions what it means to grow up in a world where absurdity has become the new normal. Written “à plat tôt” by three clowns unaware of their own kinship, it’s a three-voiced chant to tame their demons – and perhaps yours, the one that slowly creeps in and gnaws from the inside.

Les Gros patinet bien is a wildly inventive comedy featuring just two performers and 150 cardboard boxes. The show follows a plump, Shakespearean-style storyteller who narrates a chaotic European escape tale while remaining seated, and his hyperactive, silent sidekick who acts out the entire journey around him. With roller skates, scooters, planes, and even a mule, the duo creates a hilarious, high-energy performance full of physical comedy, absurdity, and imagination. This clever mix of stillness and motion earned the show the 2022 Molière Prize for Best Public Theatre.
