Christmas Concert

Experience the magic of Christmas with a family concert that combines classical music and poetry, directed by Zofia Kiniorska. Antoine Courvoisier, Charlotte Filou, and Bastien Blanchard will perform pieces by Delibes, Dvořák, Khatchaturian, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rudaz, and Strauss. Enjoy an enchanting, uninterrupted hour to joyfully celebrate the festive season!

Actor Samuel Labarthe turns Nicolas Bouvier’s fever-drenched memoir The Scorpion-Fish into a hypnotic, miniaturist tour de force: marooned in 1950s Ceylon after a headlong road trip from Geneva through the Balkans and Afghanistan, the once-ebullient traveller spirals into tropical delirium, trading human company for buzzing insects, mirage-bright visions and mordant humour that flits between the sublime and the grotesque. Under Catherine Schaub’s finely gauged direction, Labarthe channels both the lush lyricism and the slow-burn torment of this “motionless voyage,” distilling Bouvier’s languid prose into a tactile, rejuvenating elixir that lets the audience feel every bead of sweat, jolt of wonder and sting of isolation.

As part of the Les Grands Interprètes series, pianist Víkingur Ólafsson will present a diverse program featuring works by Bach, Beethoven, and Schubert. Attendees will enjoy pieces such as Bach’s Prelude in E Major, several Beethoven piano sonatas, and Schubert’s Sonata in E Minor.

4 – 14 December

Frankenstein was born in Cologny through the pen of Mary Shelley in 1818, telling the story of Dr. Victor Frankenstein and his creation. The Founders reinterpret this literary classic, turning the monster into a silent hero. In this unique theatrical performance at Maison Saint-Gervais, the performers rely on non-verbal gestures to construct both the space and the narrative.

The Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève and La Cité Bleue join forces for an evening celebrating the release of artist Paolo Colombo’s book, “The Second Time”. The event kicks off with a panel discussion featuring Paolo Colombo, Andrea Bellini, Leonardo García-Alarcón, and Muriel Brandt, exploring the historical connections between the two institutions and Colombo’s artistic practice. Following the discussion, a rebetiko concert by Theodora Athanassiou and Alexandros Kentris will highlight this Greek musical heritage. The evening will conclude with a bar and book signings by Paolo Colombo.
