Musical Steppe

Under the baton of Tugan Sokhiev, the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, with violinist Sergey Khachatryan, presents a captivating evening at Victoria Hall, featuring the works of Boulanger, Tchaikovsky, and Prokofiev. The concert opens with “D’un matin de printemps” by Lili Boulanger, followed by Tchaikovsky’s “Violin Concerto in D major,” showcasing Khachatryan’s virtuosic talent. The evening culminates with Prokofiev’s “Symphony No. 5,” a piece renowned for its youthful spirit and romantic exuberance, celebrating the resilience and dignity of the human spirit.

They reimagine the fate of Emma Bovary, highlighting provincial ennui and marital dramas with wit and tenderness. This lively and intelligent performance breathes new life into a frequently misunderstood classic, demonstrating its ongoing relevance. The staging combines improvisation, voiceover, and absurd humor to engage the audience from start to finish. Written and performed by Broquet and Pouvreau, with direction by Edward Decesari.

Rich in music, clowning, and humor, the piece creates moments of grace and sensitivity, reflecting on tradition, relationships, and the world around them.
