In ZONDER, Argentine choreographer Ayelen Parolin explores the connections between dance and humor, embracing contrasts, unexpected encounters, and contradictions. The piece celebrates the figure of the innocent fool through a creation for three performers, which serves as an ode to the irrational and the unpredictable. Set in improbable landscapes, two male dancers and one female dancer in whimsical costumes express joy, simple pleasure, exhilaration, exuberance, and excess, all accompanied by the laughter of a delighted audience. Challenging a society that values thoughtfulness and calculation, Parolin skillfully orchestrates choreographic disorder, presenting chance as a central element and offering an extravagant ritual that flirts with the absurd. Through this work, she challenges ideological, aesthetic, and political conventions, providing a fresh perspective on contemporary dance.
