The FILMAR festival presents a series of ten animated short films for children titled “An Idea for the Planet.” These four films, creatively and emotionally tackle themes of environment, solidarity, and species coexistence. The lineup features films like “Los carpinchos,” “El armadillo fronterizo,” “Cosmonauta 360: misión rescate,” and “La maquina.” Screenings are often paired with creative workshops and snacks, ensuring a family-friendly and educational experience. The event is supported by the City of Geneva’s Agenda 21 Service as part of Climate Week.

“Abracadabra” is a workshop-performance for children, offered by the Grand Théâtre de Genève. Led by Maud Bessard-Morandas or Aurélie Brémond, it tells the tale of a kind witch with a love for singing who, with the help of the children and her apprentice, seeks to revive the magic in the theater. Participants are introduced to opera through magical spells and playful interactions, all set to the music of composers such as Purcell, Offenbach, Mozart, and Grieg.

Who hasn’t, as a child, woken up in the middle of the night, disoriented, surrounded by mysterious shapes that might be monsters—or maybe friends? “Bachibouzouk”, by the Philippe Saire Company, brings that in-between world to life, blending dance and object theatre in a poetic, twilight performance where imagination takes over once the lights go out.

Explore the collections of the MEG as a family, with a tour that includes the library and the temporary exhibition. Join the story of Wambi, an antelope hunter, and witness the making of his musical instrument.

The Compagnie Contes Joyeux is made up of Anne-Claude and François. They live in Lausanne and have been offering performances for twenty years that combine storytelling, songs, and music. Their repertoire is varied, cheerful, and full of bounce—bringing joy to both children and adults alike. Through word of mouth, they hope to spread joy and enthusiasm, because “when you love, you tell stories!”

Stories offer us extraordinary adventures and incredible journeys; they introduce us to talking animals, fairies, and elves, and transport us to dreamlike worlds. What a gift!

The Biopark is temporarily hosting Janus, a unique two-headed Greek tortoise, during the renovation of the Museum. Each head of this male tortoise has its own independent brain, which sometimes makes its movements challenging. In captivity, Janus receives attentive care, resulting in an impressive lifespan of 26 years.
