The world-renowned Tenebrae Choir from London returns to Geneva after more than 23 years, performing the “Mother & Child” program at the Geneva Cathedral. Directed by Nigel Short, the choir is celebrated for its precision and passion, having recorded over 40 CDs and performed globally. The program explores the profound and tender relationship between mother and child through a selection of contemporary choral works. Highlights include pieces by Arvo Pärt, such as O Wisdom and Beatitudes, Gustav Holst’s Ave Maria, Caroline Shaw’s And the Swallow, and John Tavener’s evocative Mother & Child, composed specifically for Tenebrae. The concert also features the powerful Magnificat by Giles Swayne and Tavener’s poignant The Lamb, finishing with Pärt’s majestic Salve Regina, a contemplative homage to the Virgin Mary.
