Lance Daly’s film follows Shóna McAnally, a young fiddle prodigy from Donegal, as she leaves home with her little brother Mickey to join a travelling band of musicians. Joseph Kumbela’s Black Rage returns to Geneva after an international journey marked by multiple distinctions in 2026. Written, directed, and performed by Kumbela, the film follows Nelson as he confronts the wounds of racism and the anger he has carried for too long. In a tense, intimate register, the story traces a struggle to face what silence and other people’s gazes have buried, so that pain no longer defines who he is.
Special screening with director Joseph Kumbela and the rest of the film crew in attendance.

C. Bernard’s adventure film follows a man on a year‑long sabbatical cycling through 19 countries on five continents. Traversing the Pamir, Karakoram and Himalayan passes to Patagonia, Africa and Sweden, the film foregrounds vast landscapes, legendary cycle routes and the human encounters that reshape the traveler. With intimate cinematography and steady observational pacing, it blends travelogue and personal reflection, exploring themes of solitude, resilience and the ways place and people transform identity.

Tsai Ming-liang’s Stray Dogs follows a father and his two children living in acute precarity in Taipei. Through long, contemplative takes and a heightened sensory palette, the film observes solitude, urban marginality and fragile human bonds as the family encounters a mysterious woman. Radical and immersive, the director’s slow cinema registers bodies and cityscapes with rigorous empathy, turning duration into emotional weight and inviting a bodily experience of alienation and connection.
Mandarin with French subtitles. Screening as part of the Geneva International Film Festival (GIFF)
Fabian Chiquet’s special documentary screening follows Edith Ballantyne, former president of the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, as a life of conviction becomes a call to action. Framed by today’s climate of conflict and polarisation, the film reflects on peace as a shared, ongoing responsibility rather than the simple absence of war. Its thoughtful, urgent tone is deepened by a discussion with the filmmaker and human-rights lawyer Madeleine Reese.
