Founded by Nicolas Achten, Scherzi Musicali is a celebrated Belgian ensemble known for its exploration of 17th and 18th-century music. The four musicians perform Italian works from the 17th century using rare instruments, weaving an enchanting labyrinth of contrasting emotions.
“A Star is Borgne” is a wild, satirical comedy on the film industry. When the director absconds with the funds, aspiring actresses auditioning for parts agree to participate in a pseudo ‘making-of’ segment for a portion of the film, working both in front of and behind the camera. They also find themselves standing in for the leading actress in a revealing scene, creating a tongue-in-cheek but affectionate portrayal of the film world and its occasionally artificial glamour.
