La Bâtie Festival: Boris Charmatz & Dimitri Chamblas, “À bras-le-corps”

The groundbreaking performance by Boris Charmatz and Dimitri Chamblas, “À bras-le-corps,” first took the stage in 1993 and challenged traditional dance codes. At just 19 and 17, the dancers, trained at the Conservatoire de Lyon, sought to break free from conventional norms. Set in an intimate square surrounded by chairs, this performance embodied a spirit of libertarian and revolutionary dance. Over the past thirty years, “À bras-le-corps” has been presented numerous times, with its performers gaining strength and fluidity, while continuing to captivate audiences with a dance that defies time and gravity.
