Ilaria Sagaria: Chrysalides

A group exhibition delves into the complex and paradoxical relationship between humans and plants. Acting as indicators of climate change, pharmaceutical resources, or fashion items, plants are laden with diverse cultural meanings. Through documentary, speculative, or experimental works, the artists investigate the status of plants—whether decorative, invasive, or medicinal. The exhibition unravels the myriad representations and values of plants in today’s society, featuring contributions from various artists and institutions like the Conservatory and Botanical Garden of Geneva.

12 June – 7 September

Every Thursday, the exhibition extends its hours into the evening, offering a cozy and appetizing atmosphere with the pop-up bar Liaisons, serving shareable dishes crafted by Florian Le Bouhec. Roving guides are on hand to engage visitors in discussion throughout the exhibition, while short guided tours are available at 7 p.m. in both French and English.

While the MAMCO undergoes renovations, the museum offers exhibitions outside its usual location. “Psot Netebras Xul” kicks off this initiative in an unconventional industrial space reminiscent of SIP venues. This exhibition explores the Geneva art scene from the 1990s to the present, featuring works from the MAMCO collection alongside recent creations. Participating artists include Timothée Calame, Valentin Carron, Emilie Ding, Sylvie Fleury, among others.

24 June – 6 July

Carine Bovey presents her heartfelt illustrations at the Espace Kugler Gallery. Using eyeshadow, she captures joyful moments in her “Skiss” series, and features inclusive portraits in the Polaroid XL series. Her sketches, blending graphite and makeup, are inspired by her travels and emphasize the value of human connections in our increasingly digital world. Her work recurrently explores themes of biophilia and societal taboos, often incorporating unconventional materials such as saffron.

30 April – 29 June

The Baur Foundation highlights the magnificent lacquers from the Virginia and Edward Chow donation with an exhibition at the museum. Showcasing twelve rare pieces from the Ming and Qing dynasties, the collection includes intricately decorated boxes, dishes, and other precious items adorned with engravings or mother-of-pearl inlays. The event kicks off with a lecture by Helen Loveday, who delves into the splendor of these Chinese treasures.
