Grand bal métissé – La Fanfareduloup & Frères de Sac 4tet

La FanfareDuLoup and Frères de Sac 4tet join forces to present the Grand Bal Métissé, a vibrant event featuring folk, popular, swing music, and more. La FanfareDuLoup, a Geneva-based musical collective founded in 1978, is known for its diverse creations spanning jazz, rock, contemporary music, and reimagined classical works. Frères de Sac 4tet, originating from the Grenoble collective MusTraDem in 2016, breathes new life into traditional European repertoires from Brittany to Sweden. Together, they redefine musical traditions with an expanded sonic palette.

The Byron Quartet and Matteo Mela present “Souvenir d’Espagne,” a concert showcasing works inspired by Spanish music. The program includes Turina’s “Oración del torero” and “Serenata”, Boccherini’s renowned “Fandango”, and Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Quintet with its “Souvenir d’Espagne” movement. These pieces, infused with influences from Haydn, d’Indy, Franck, Debussy, Schubert, Ravel, Andalusian music, and flamenco, beautifully capture the spirit of the guitar.

Following Napoleon’s defeat, Talleyrand and Fouché meet in Paris to determine France’s future—whether it will be a republic or a monarchy. During a private dinner, they engage in a heated debate: Fouché advocates for the republic, while Talleyrand aims to restore the Bourbons, requiring Fouché’s support. The evening is filled with revelations and confrontations against a backdrop of external turmoil.

“Avignon, une école,” by Fanny de Chaillé, takes audiences on a journey through the iconic moments of the Avignon Festival using a rich tapestry of photo archives, films, reports, and radio broadcasts. Conceived in 2024 with 15 actors from La Manufacture, this production delves into 77 years of theatrical history, stage memories, scandals, and artistic testimonials, all brought to life with exuberant theatricality and infectious enthusiasm.

For the season’s first apéro ballet, the Japanese musicians of “Bal impérial”—Tsubasa Hori, Shogo Yoshii, and Kazutomi “Tsuki”—showcase their collaboration with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and dancer Riley O’Flynn. The event takes place at the Foyer of the Grand Théâtre de Genève.

At La Parfumerie, Serge Martin presents a unique dialogue between Diogenes and the Joker. Diogenes, sometimes appearing as a hologram, highlights life’s essentials while the Joker entertains the audience. Together, they critique modern cynicism and assert that life should overcome. This subversive and humorous performance explores themes such as simplicity, sexual freedom, gender equality, pacifism, and the rejection of money. Featuring José Lillo and Serge Martin on stage, the production uses holograms and meticulous staging to create an immersive experience.
