The Alfredo Rodriguez Trio, featuring Alfredo Rodriguez (piano), Yarel Hernandez (bass), and Michael Olivera (drums), will perform at Alhambra.
Alfredo Rodriguez, a Grammy-nominated jazz virtuoso from Cuba, was discovered by Quincy Jones in 2006 at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where he won a piano competition. This encounter launched his career, and since then, he has performed in several projects with Jones, including three trio concerts at Montreux. Rodriguez blends influences from Bach, Stravinsky, and his Cuban roots with jazz, pop, timba, salsa, bachata, tango, reggaeton, and bolero. In 2015, he was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Instrumental Arrangement” for his rendition of “Guantanamera.”
